Nutanix : Files and VMware vRealize Automation integration

Nutanix Files is a native part of the Nutanix Enterprise portfolio and like any other Nutanix products, Files expose a REST API that can be used to automate many operations.

In the video below, we will cover how to extend many functionalities of Nutanix Files with both VMware vRealize Automation and vRealize Orchestrator in order to add a File as a Service in the vRA catalogue.

To do this, we integrate 3 platforms: Nutanix Files, vRealize Orchestrator, and the vRealize automation with these versions:

  • Cluster with AOS Version 5.15.1 LTS
  • Nutanix Files 3.6.4
  • vRO 7.6
  • vRA 7.6

The First step is  to create and get your Nutanix Files Server UUID. This can be obtained directly by using the afs command from any CVM:

To create a new Nutanix Files SHARE / EXPORT, we will use the blow POST Http Request Method:

PC: URL: https://PC-IP:9440/PrismGateway/services/rest/v1/vfilers/NTNX-FILES-UUID/shares?force=true&proxyClusterUuid=CLUSTER-UUID

PE: URL: https://PE-IP:9440/PrismGateway/services/rest/v1/vfilers/NTNX-FILES-UUID/shares?force=true”

REQUESTPAYLOAD: you need to specify some options like the protocol size and name.

We hope you will like it!
